Dr. Pereira is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon and Hand Surgeon with over 25 years of clinical experience in complex traumatic reconstruction, peripheral nerve injury, burn surgery, and limb salvage. A Certified Life Care Planner (CLCP) with an MBA, he brings an extensive background in injury causation analysis, surgical outcomes, and life care plan development for non-catastrophic and catastrophic injuries.
Dr. Pereira earned his medical degree (MBBS) from M.S. University in Baroda, India, and holds dual fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh (FRCS). He completed his general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, his plastic surgery residency at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He currently serves as Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery/Hand Surgery at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
His clinical practice centers on acute and chronic hand trauma, peripheral nerve injury and reconstruction, complex wound care and burn injury, amputation and reconstructive options, and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Dr. Pereira maintains an active academic profile with over 50 peer-reviewed publications on trauma, peripheral nerve injury, and surgical outcomes, along with numerous book chapters and research grants in nerve regeneration and wound healing.
Dr. Pereira provides expert witness testimony for both plaintiff and defense.
